Air pollution remains the biggest environmental threat to public health in Europe, yet another invisible danger—noise pollution—affects over 100 million citizens daily. Road traffic is a major contributor to both, and while regulations exist, they often fail to capture real-world emissions from vehicles.
In this video, our project partners highlight an innovative solution: remote sensing technology that detects high-emission vehicles in real-time. This breakthrough could empower cities to take targeted action against the worst polluters. However, without EU-level regulation, this technology remains underutilized.
